With more than 6,500 plates of food is how the Food Committee of the Steinreich Mennoniten Gemeinde serves the church yearly. This committee consists of 7 couples who tirelessly dedicate their time and effort into assuring that the 300+ people of our church can come together a minimum of 6 times a year and get to know one another over a delicious, shared meal. Not only that, but they also act at funerals by being there for the grieving family and friends with a warm meal. Furthermore, the Committee also actively contributes to the construction of our new church building by selling dinner once a month and donating the funds the project. For the Food Committee these occasions often mean relentless planning, multiple trips to the grocery store, days of preparation beforehand and hours of clean up afterwards. The food committee may think that the only gift, they give the church members is a delicious meal; but to be honest, they give us so much more… They give us an opportunity to form friendships with other church members, they console us in our times of need, they help grow the church and with it the Food Committee helps grow the kingdom of God.
